Whenever people ask what water to drink, I always recommend distilled: Distilling water clears out the hundreds of contaminants in your tap water to give you pure, clean, neutral (pH 7) water. Cities and towns all over the US routinely violate the EPA safety standards and these standards do not necessarily account for all of the harmful contaminants in water in the first place! In addition, America’s aging water infrastructure puts us all at increased risk for contaminants (Flint Michigan was a particularly egregious example). It is true that you also lose any beneficial minerals that may occur in your local water – but if you are relying on these as your source of mineral nutrition you have much bigger problems. Minerals should be coming from the foods you eat, not the water you drink! Where do you find distilled water? There are various companies that sell table-top distillers (1 gallon for every 4-5 hours) – do some research and give them a try, you’ll be surprised what is left over from your tap water! You can also buy distilled water by the jug at any grocery store (make sure it is distilled and not spring water, there is a difference) although this can get very expensive and wastes plastic unnecessarily. Finally, you can have a water distiller hooked directly into the water line that goes to the kitchen sink so you will have a separate spout for distilled water on demand.
